P01 → Bandwagonesque Album
Cover Redesign h
A complete redesign of the 1991 release ‘Bandwagonesque’ by alt-rock band ‘Teenage Fanclub’. The album design uses an experimental deconstructive typography style, evocative of the era in which the album is from, to illustrate the idea of teenage love and emotions being chaotic. The image making used a chemical process called chromatography. The pigment separation uniquely presenting the idea of ‘fleeting fantasy’. Strong bursts of colour and energy that eventually fade or just stop abruptly, become a visual production of how a daydream/ idea of somebody can do the same. The complete design style represents the care free and full bodied sound of the album, letting the audience get a feel for Bandwagonesque as soon as they pick it up.
This design was a Vaughan Oliver Design Scholarship 2025 finalist.
On top of redesigning the cover of the album, I physically made a vinyl record, designing all of the assets to go along side it, including: Insert sleeves featuring a full lyric sheet and album credits...
A 24 inch fold out poster that is attached to the record packaging...
And a special lyric booklet that features chromatography specially paired with each song...
On top of the record packaging, I also created tour posters (featuring the same destinations as the bands original 1992 UK tour).
Last but not least, a direct comparison between the original album cover and my redesign.
