P03 → Royal Mail Stamps

The insight for this project stems from thinking about why stamps are usually created. I realised that commemorative stamps are always celebrating and highlighting big occassions nationally and internationally. Wanting to flip this convention, I used the large platform of special stamps to promote something small that may
go under the public radar.
The human brain is wired to respond to rewards. Recognising and apprec-iating small wins activates our reward centers, helping reinforce behaviors
and encourage continued effort. This is really important for
those suffering with mental
health issues, as anxiety
and dread can often turn
into procrastination.
Mental health is so important,
and it affects everyones lives
in some shape or form. Promoting
and sup-porting a mental health charity in this way allows the message to spread to previously untapped areas. Public places
and social media are saturated with mental health awareness
and content, so diversifying
where the messages come from
is the next step for the cause.

Alongside my BARB tea project,
I had a second module that gave
us a number of small breifs to complete over the semester. The piece above was an outcome from one of those breifs. The task
was to create a set of 6 british standard stamps; they could
be for or based on any subject,
the idea just had to be unique
and cohesive.
Although a fictional collaborative breif, my aim was to design the stamps with the charities branding and design aethstetic in mind.
I wanted the stamps to feel like they could be apart of a ‘Mind’ campaign, instead of designing
in any kind of way and then just slapping their logo on the front,
to tie the idea together.
